Personal branding is really taking off as a way to get the word out. Because it’s a face to the name. A lot of big names have been doing this well. If you think about Steve Jobs or Bill Gates immediately you think of tech giants. Yet, this isn’t the personal branding I’m referring to. This is about selling you the entrepreneur. Who are you, and why we should care who you are? When you think of branding you’ll easily assume I have to put my logo all over the internet to get noticed. People are into people. You’ll always get a connection with a person but a business is still just a business.
When I make deals with a client whether it’s in person or through a conference video call. It makes the service more tangible. Because now they know they are doing business with David Morgan the owner of Zion Port. My business is just a formality. When you do personal branding you’re building trust. Not with Google or any search engine but with the person you’re doing business with.
We think of business as being an agent of an automated call system. You call into the bank for a question, and the first thing you get is a computer. What is the one thing you want, to talk to a real person? We understand business is the business. The barebones metric is that we want the person.
This isn’t about personal branding just so you can sell. We get to know who you are and because of that it’s easier for your clients and new clients to want to do business with you. In 2017 there will be a wave of personal branding and its important you’re in the mix.
